Major Bank Earns More From Intermediate Business

The China Construction Bank said recently it earned 1.914 billion yuan in intermediate business income in the first half of this year, including a net income of 1.745 billion yuan.

The record-high half-year growth rate in intermediate business revenue was a resultof the bank's efforts to allure individual customers, and expansion of operations in its electronic card business, network business and accounting consultations, the bank said in a press release.

The net intermediate business income accounted for 6.4 percent of the bank's total net business income in the first half of the year, which almost doubled that for the same period last year, it said.

The bank's earnings from its traditional businesses of account settlements and commission fees only accounted for 38 percent of its total revenue, down from 60 percent in the past.
